And while I've thought of writing,<br />
typed of many a posts,<br />
and whatnot,<br />
I've just not wanted to blog.<br />
<br />
Today though I really want to share things.<br />
This post will be random.<br />
And it will also be awesome.<br />
<br />
Over Thanksgiving break one night my brother opened the front door to our "Far Far Away" home and informed us that it was either raining or freezing. Confused yet intrigued I went to the door. Sure enough it sounded like a light sprinkle of rain.... BUT there wasn't rain... we could literally hear it freezing! AH! So cool. Then I went back to L-town and although "small" to the world, it's certainly not quiet.<br />
<br />
Speaking of things freezing... I mean Jack Frost. I have an announcement. I might be in love with him. Basically you probably will be too. If you go and see this movie. It's perfect and leaves you feeling happy and cheerful. The characters are well-developed to me and the story and random ideas are super. Watch it and see what baby teeth have to do with anything.<br />
<br />
<br />

<br />
Life is up and down all the time. Craziness I think. Work has it's good days and bad days. Sometimes I feel just like Mr. John (because this basically happens):<br />
<br />
<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="allowfullscreen" frameborder="0" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/KdxEAt91D7k" width="560"></iframe>
<br />
But blessings come in many different forms and you can think you had a perfect day when one Sunday you woke up, went to church, met new people, spent the day at your sister's empty apartment doing just what YOU want, going to ward prayer, and ending the night with a hot cocoa party where you meet even MORE new people... and then you find that day continues into the next day when one of your besties gets you a free ticket to a concert and you get to have dinner with her after leaving early because sometimes even a SUPERB Christmas concert can't stop the hunger you feel (because your planned meal fell through), and then you get to spend hours looking at Christmas lights and talking about life. THEN the next day you get to serve a good friend, go shopping for just what you already know you are buying for yourself, eat tacos, watch a great movie, and just be happy.... THEN the next day you have a pizza party at your sisters, spend time with her and her awesome roommies (and ward sisters), watch a beautiful movie, make christmas gifts, and just feel lighthearted and happy.<br />
<br />
Yup. My week's been pretty good.<br />
<br />
Also I love this time of year. It's beautiful. The trees. The lights. The believing. The joy of children. The people's faces. The celebration of the Savior's birth. And the knowledge of the Atonement of Jesus Christ, my Savior, Redeemer, and Elder Brother. Holy cow, things happen in a strange way sometimes but isn't it fantastic? I mean I NEVER thought I would experience a broken heart through a friendship tie being disturbed (secrets only destroy people, even if you don't mean them to - it's just what they do), but it happened. I'd felt SO broken for a while, but this did it and I truly felt great pain. So with an escape from my apartment to sit by the temple and just cry and pray I felt my Heavenly Father and my Savior's love for me and the BEAUTIFUL healing power of the Atonement. Beautiful - the best word I have to describe it. I cried and prayed and listened to beautiful music for an hour or so just letting myself be healed. I then went and bought myself something I never really thought I would - something small, but something to create things, something I've never been "good at." Then I went and visited two other friends. One my long lost cousin Elise and I chatted about life and decisions and being a "grown-up" but not yet being what we want to be when we "grow up" (a mom) and having to find other things to somewhat pretend we want to do. Yup. Then I got to visit my dear friend April and catch up on life and watch a little Narnia. And I can honestly say that when both friends asked my how I was and I said good - it was true - it's amazing how the pain can really just fade with love. I tell you what one heartbreak can't even amount to the beauty of friendship. I have the best friends in the universe and no one can convince me otherwise. Even when I don't see them often, I can feel the blessings and relish the memories. <br />
<br />
Sorry that was SO long. I hate reading lots of words like that. Oops.<br />
<br />
Merry Christmas to all of you though!Heidihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11286741895145655851noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2977956366858534357.post-34565660640525369102012-01-27T19:35:00.002-07:002012-01-27T19:38:58.884-07:00friday happy list<div style="text-align: center;">It's been a while, but don't think I've been unhappy.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzAd20NVj66KiRyWpdddTvU0y-Y8avlGP54MUIO5h-iFUiHmcRsPWQpfK8R6UNeLRhVjlnNkGVz5dqjJjMhoR6UXr0vrqSYDauih6XwKIf1f0zKnV_jxFN6HTbHibXCzZQDPe19BgKY8M/s1600/silo.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzAd20NVj66KiRyWpdddTvU0y-Y8avlGP54MUIO5h-iFUiHmcRsPWQpfK8R6UNeLRhVjlnNkGVz5dqjJjMhoR6UXr0vrqSYDauih6XwKIf1f0zKnV_jxFN6HTbHibXCzZQDPe19BgKY8M/s320/silo.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"></div><div style="text-align: center;">Today I am happy because:</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

that sometimes the best therapy<br />
(although often thought to be any form of chocolate )<br />
may just indeed be letting tears roll down your face,<br />
no wiping them away with you hands or tissues.<br />
Just let them roll on down, splattering where they fall.<br />
It's good stuff. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">President David O. McKay once said,</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">"Wisdom comes through effort. All good things require effort. That which is worth having will cost part of your physical being, your intellectual power and your soul power—'Ask, and it shall be given you seek, and ye shall find knock, and it shall be opened unto you:' (Matt. 7:7.) But you have to seek, you have to knock. On the other hand, sin thrusts itself upon you. It walks beside you, it tempts you, it entices, it allures. You do not have to put forth effort. It is like the poor, fallen woman who lies in wait to deceive. It is like the billboard advertising attracting you to drink and to smoke. It is like the message that comes into your very homes with the television and radio or the golden packet put right into your hand. Evil seeks you, and it requires effort and fortitude to combat it. But truth and wisdom are gained only by seeking, by prayer, and by effort." </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">I've realized this more and more in the past few months.</div><div style="text-align: center;">And so I've resolved to put more effort in.</div><div style="text-align: center;">More effort into being confident from the inside out,<br />
<div style="text-align: right;">the right source.</div></div><div style="text-align: center;">More effort into my scripture study and learning.</div><div style="text-align: center;">More effort into my prayers and the relationship they are building.</div><div style="text-align: center;">More effort into things I enjoy, like reading Harry Potter.</div><div style="text-align: center;">More effort into friendships.</div><div style="text-align: center;">More effort into people.</div><div style="text-align: center;">More effort into trying to ask for things, being humble.</div><div style="text-align: center;">(In a CES fireside called Coming to Know given by Sister Rosemary Wixon in Logan last year, she said, "There is something very humbling about asking. Asking is an act of faith.) </div><div style="text-align: center;">More effort into talking to people about myself...</div><div style="text-align: center;">... my feelings, my struggles, my frustrations, my joys.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">More effort to not mess with the man in between: </div><div style="text-align: center;">(p.s. the video is kinda WEIRD, </div><div style="text-align: center;">but this is my favorite version of the song)</div><div style="text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/DKrC9Tu8gpo" width="480"></iframe></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">And more effort to be more than I are:</div><div style="text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/nWKXU0ApF08" width="480"></iframe></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">More effort to dream:</div><div style="text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/-IFldaJlAmY" width="560"></iframe></div><div style="text-align: center;"></div><div style="text-align: center;">And what I've already experienced has been exciting!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">What are you going to put more effort into?</div>Heidihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11286741895145655851noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2977956366858534357.post-64304002829912855762012-01-24T19:19:00.003-07:002012-01-24T21:40:49.391-07:00The Butterfly Circus<div style="text-align: center;">Um, so. There's this video. It's apparently been up on youtube since October and after watching it I can really only say, </div><div style="text-align: center;">1. Why has no one showed me this before because it's AMAZING?!?!</div><div style="text-align: center;">2. THANK YOU! To Aleisha for posting it on your <a href="http://babyblueyes89.blogspot.com/">cute blog,</a></div><div style="text-align: center;">3. Watch it. It's 22 minutes or so but it is a fantastic use of them, </div><div style="text-align: center;">and</div><div style="text-align: center;">4. You should be warned, tears escaped my eyes multiple times.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/p98KAEif3bI" width="560"></iframe></div><div style="text-align: center;">I just love it.</div><div style="text-align: center;">I want to be like Mr. Mendez,</div><div style="text-align: center;">Always able to see people's worth.</div><div style="text-align: center;">Help them to see it again too.</div><div style="text-align: center;">Show that they can get through anything. </div><div style="text-align: center;">Show myself that same thing.</div><div style="text-align: center;">Because we are all Divine,</div><div style="text-align: center;">and we all have something to offer the world, </div><div style="text-align: center;">whether others, or even ourselves, see it right away or not.</div>Heidihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11286741895145655851noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2977956366858534357.post-92061571111940452602012-01-16T15:12:00.002-07:002012-01-16T15:15:29.103-07:00Right from the Horse's Mouth<div class="MsoNoSpacing">I think at one point in every member of my family's life, we have each wanted a horse.</div><div class="MsoNoSpacing">And in the past few years, anytime a horse decided to come visit us resulted in broken trees and an unhappy father, mother, or brother (not to mention the brown presents they left all over the place).</div><div class="MsoNoSpacing"><br />
</div><div class="MsoNoSpacing">When there suddenly is either horses or cows in the yard it normally means our neighbor left his gate open, and I’d simply plop on the nearest shoes to me (sometimes flip flops and sometimes overly large boots) and chase the beasts out the same way they came in( ok sometimes I let the dogs or other family members help). Occasionally my battle cry of "For Narnia" can be heard (as I tramp through the weeds in the aforementioned oversize boots) and the cattle are dealt with without much fuss.</div><div class="MsoNoSpacing"><br />
</div><div class="MsoNoSpacing">Let me preface a little more with a few nights ago. I heard a noise outside my window, ignored it, only to hear Princess (our fearless golden retriever) making a fuss a few minutes later (I ignored this too), and later I was informed by my dad (in an unhappy tone) that there were cows in the yard. Of course, chasing ensued and since my valiant father had stopped to put on a coat and actual shoes he was much less chilled to the bone and poked in the feet by weeds than myself and therefore he got to do most of the work. He was most unhappy that they had been in his garden. Looking back I think we should have taken full advantage of the free fertilizer that could have come of it all.</div><div class="MsoNoSpacing"><br />
</div><div class="MsoNoSpacing">Last night, however, I was quietly retired to my bedroom delved deep into Harry Potter where I was celebrating Sir Nicholas De Mimsy-Porpinton's deathday at his lovely party with the gang when I head hooves running past my window...<br />
</div><div class="MsoNoSpacing">Knowing that catching the animals before trees broke or the yard was covered in free manure was the best practice, I left the quiet of my room to investigate the noises I had heard this time. I told my mom who was also enjoying the company of a book at the late hour and we peered outside. We didn't see anything, but just as I was headed in I heard something so I scanned the backyard again. My faulty (out of battery power) spotlight didn't reveal anything though. I went back inside and my dad had decided to ask what we were doing. I peeked outside the back door and heard a large something, coming TOWARDS me. This “towards” word is really important as all the other animals to ever enter our yard have always retreated when a person was near. <br />
<br />
Thus this development freaked me out and I closed the door quickly exclaiming, "There's something out there. I don't know what it is, but there is something out there and it was coming." </div><div class="MsoNoSpacing">To which I received the response, “Let the dog out.” </div><div class="MsoNoSpacing">Of course it was then my duty to exclaim, "I don't know what it is. What if it's mean and hungry and eats her." (Because clearly I am not overreacting and am completely in the right state of mind... but honestly who doesn't like to SEE what is approaching them in the dark? Especially after reading some Harry Potter?)</div><div class="MsoNoSpacing"><br />
</div><div class="MsoNoSpacing">But I did as I was told and sure enough Princess went out barking away once she detected something out there (Edison our other dog who only wants in on chasing things when he deems them “cool” decided he’d like out of the house too and off he went only to be quite quickly disappointed). My mom went out on the back porch to look around and sure enough, two horses stood in our yard. But instead of running from the dogs, they walked towards my mom, super friendly-like. </div><div class="MsoNoSpacing"><br />
</div><div class="MsoNoSpacing">This told us that these horses were not out dear neighbors' who often raided our yard. SO my dad escorted them to where we thought they really went, tried opening the gate and startled them up the street. We called the owners, who said that they weren't theirs and then mom and dad went to look for them so as to keep them in our pasture for the night. They were nowhere to be found.</div><div class="MsoNoSpacing"><br />
</div><div class="MsoNoSpacing">This morning though. Lo and behold. Two horses outside my window again, so we took them to our pasture and watered them and left them to graze (don't worry, there is plenty of food + hay in there) while we searched for their real place of home (which is proving more difficult than originally thought). </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7W1LOTJB6DDyPyLjT22G1vhjN5I7dEneYtBdLHDV027sCY7qaEXelvJFOI6NgZsCtzybYAZSjfi_Arc4xBwALdnqXuiI1sUc-IK1S53Ahk2FWRBko-8PSJQCpqnKu9hw1NxEVMvETDKY/s1600/037.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7W1LOTJB6DDyPyLjT22G1vhjN5I7dEneYtBdLHDV027sCY7qaEXelvJFOI6NgZsCtzybYAZSjfi_Arc4xBwALdnqXuiI1sUc-IK1S53Ahk2FWRBko-8PSJQCpqnKu9hw1NxEVMvETDKY/s320/037.JPG" width="240" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnlGrwHrmy65wLh-0X9fEgY0rLZ_M_IFhu71G4CQgxPm5EaWixisG5OZ3m-kL_qESbkIqFPl1EkCiA6rw7T33Pc2qamI_YgifRsqNBeUYoSV-JTeM4H7fujbGPUZrVp4g1joKiMVx1OrY/s1600/038.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnlGrwHrmy65wLh-0X9fEgY0rLZ_M_IFhu71G4CQgxPm5EaWixisG5OZ3m-kL_qESbkIqFPl1EkCiA6rw7T33Pc2qamI_YgifRsqNBeUYoSV-JTeM4H7fujbGPUZrVp4g1joKiMVx1OrY/s320/038.JPG" width="240" /></a></div><div class="MsoNoSpacing"></div><div class="MsoNoSpacing">So today I’m just enjoying watching them (I've also enjoyed hunting for our two baby fish that have managed to survive in our aquarium for weeks, which sort of reminds me of <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kuMPT-m5RSU">this commercial</a>.) My day has been pretty complete I tell you. And that is the story of how I got myself two horses for the day... or so…</div><div class="MsoNoSpacing"><br />
</div><div class="MsoNoSpacing">I guess I could get back to job hunting (or maybe just reading) now.</div>Heidihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11286741895145655851noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2977956366858534357.post-64129627145643501752011-12-31T16:30:00.003-07:002011-12-31T16:48:17.615-07:00Ode to my 22nd yearWith the passing of Christmas, my age increased and another year of my life started. Ok actually a LOT.<br />
I didn't even mention thanksgiving -<br />
when I have so much to be thankful for,<br />
<br />
And Christmas hasn't really been mentioned either...<br />
<div style="text-align: right;">...and it's in <span style="font-size: large;">15 days!</span></div><br />
Amidst my life storms, decisions to be made, and happy moments,<br />
I have attempted to write up at least seven posts,<br />
and I've never completed them to a posting status.<br />
<br />
But I want it to be known that I am incredibly grateful!<br />
I am so grateful for days where church is just for me,<br />
because I know that my Heavenly Father knows me<br />
and my struggles.<br />
<br />
I am grateful for my amazing and wonderful family.<br />
For their talents, gifts, time, smiles, hugs,<br />
listening ears, examples, and so much more.<br />
(extended family included)<br />
<br />
I am grateful for my friends.<br />
Their examples, letting me help them through rough patches,<br />
and being their for mine.<br />
<br />
I am grateful for the gospel of Jesus Christ,<br />
and a knowledge of its truth.<br />
I am grateful for my older brother,<br />
His Atonement for the world and, and the hope it provides me.<br />
I am grateful for living prophets and apostles and their words.<br />
<br />
I am grateful for a home, for the future and opportunities, <br />
for good music,<br />
for great values learned from movie and books,<br />
for nature's glorious beauty,<br />
for technology so communication with others is so easy.<br />
for memories of the past - the magical moment of life,<br />
and for the memories to come,<br />
childhood friends who helped sculpt me,<br />
future friends who will continue to mold me,<br />
And SO much more!<br />
<br />
I am especially grateful for the Spirit of Christmas<br />
<br />
(even though I've caught myself multiple times <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nmGSHZYZ74c">feeling like this</a>)<br />
For the giving and the living that happens this time of year.<br />
For the beauty of lights, and nativity's, and stars.<br />
For the music and the message of the season -<br />
and the humble story of the birth that changed the world.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">Over at my long, lost cousin Elise's blog today,</div><div style="text-align: left;">I read that dear story written beautifully by Elise, </div><div style="text-align: left;">as though it is through the eyes of Mary.</div><div style="text-align: left;">It truly is a story that just feels you with love. </div><div style="text-align: left;">Here's the link:</div><div style="text-align: left;"><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><a href="http://eliseypants.blogspot.com/2011/12/christmas-song-of-day-birth-story.html">A Birth Story</a></span></div><br />
<br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">And <span style="font-size: x-large;">Merry Christmas. </span></div>Heidihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11286741895145655851noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2977956366858534357.post-43506225110240433872011-12-03T16:30:00.003-07:002011-12-03T16:46:33.100-07:00Ireland: Part 4 (England)I'm going to apologize ahead of time for the lack of pictures from my Manchester visit. I allowed my camera to die. Ooops. So Maria has a few pictures I'll get someday and I'll share what I can from online places.<br />
<br />
Day 8: We boarded our plane to Manchester about 6:30 and after approximately 45 minutes we landed in England. We hopped onto the Tram over to city centre. We got breakfast. Walked around town. Shopped the Christmas markets. Explored the large shopping centers. Saw the AMAZING John Rylands library (became aware of one of my new heroes existence). Learned most of the hotels were booked and panicked a little but found one in the "football" and cricket area of town. Met up with Mick and Dave back at the airport to travel to Preston, England and stay the night in the church accommodations. <br />

<br />
It started out just right when we entered the temple and just sat and waited with Mick and Dave in the waiting room. Just in peace. I loved it.<br />
<br />
Then we went down to the baptistry (after we figured out we were supposed to have already followed our recommends down to it - oops). There we learned we would be helping with some family names. It truly was a beyond words and humbling experience to listen to family members discuss those they had once known and feel the joy they were feeling as they performed and saw the work for them being done. I am truly and forever grateful for temples and the gospel in my life.<br />
<br />
We went to lunch where I dined on Fish & Chips. And then the boys returned to the temple for a session while Maria and I enjoyed the beauty outside the temple and the heat inside the temple accommadations center. <br />
<br />
It was actually during our picture taking at the temple that we met a couple with many interesting hotel stories including bed bugs, blood spatter, stolen jewelry, and dead bodies. Yup. And Maria and I had booked the cheapest hotel available for the night knowing very little about it (BUT trusting the reviews of females who had stayed there alone).<br />

<br />
Day 10: This was our tour of Manchester day, and I really enjoyed it. We learned about this building: <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.asiarooms.com/en/united_kingdom/manchester/1055-britannia_hotel_city_centre.html"><img border="0" height="238" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9BORr0MUs3oRfD064a54RgtvFD4LqVyTJ5KtN1grESqZM3StGRRKOVceJe6xb4BxJOhVOXKcONnosulXIQTIhNk3OVlc1sTLn23aMQ8vP_UMq6TGpySImEWdh3WO21Qoe1gxd3vVHcHg/s320/britannia-hotel-manchester_030320091834317488.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>Today it is part of the Britannia Hotel Chain but it used to be a Watts Warehouse containing tons of ribbons and draperies. It's architecture includes a different style at each level: Italian Renaissance, Elizabethan, French Renaissance and Flemish, and each corner is topped by a large tower with Gothic Rose Windows. The building was in the area bombed during World War II raids, but employees helped to put out the fire and now it's the only old building in the area.<br />
<br />
We also saw the Town Hall. Which is a triangle-base shaped building due to the plot of land it was built on. The clock tower is BEAUTIFUL. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibKqD4Y9L0_DhFI0eEOoGGJY1ziBORLsMkj6qsa18AL7BhMRdEkxoLvzZw-4x6KliXBK-UKbKT-I_GDBdFrigXQ50r8lnQNsVGtgTU2L-n7on5cEV5ET8fs4fFO1YFOogBthfCmxj6NYU/s1600/ireland+250.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibKqD4Y9L0_DhFI0eEOoGGJY1ziBORLsMkj6qsa18AL7BhMRdEkxoLvzZw-4x6KliXBK-UKbKT-I_GDBdFrigXQ50r8lnQNsVGtgTU2L-n7on5cEV5ET8fs4fFO1YFOogBthfCmxj6NYU/s320/ireland+250.JPG" width="240" /></a></div> And the courtyard was never scrubbed clean of Victorian Era Coal Dust Air. This is actually a place where movies of that era are shot frequently with it's authentically coated walls.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.pentaxuser.co.uk/forum/topic/manchester-town-hall-14011"><img border="0" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUJ3Hnt8Z9MIHJCnF7dXTQq4TFPrqZaJaBYdEvK1S1bVplDUz0YCfeq2pEZilL1wWj_yuy35lMX8vGvddUc7EkeCCwbL0nfHEsxzLPHC9YnpCDnjyMeeaFneOMe-KZnflUS39XILdDsMc/s320/012-Courtyard-HDR.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>We also saw St. Anne's Church, Manchester Cathedral, the statue of Abraham Lincoln they have (due to Manchester's support of the Civil War despite cotton shortages in "Cottonopolis."), the area of the IRA bomb damage, a pub where Lady Sittlewick used to consume 40 oysters for breakfast and eventually died by choking on a pearl, and many more cool things.<br />
<br />
We brushed back through the Christmas Markets, searched for the Christmas show featuring Wallace and Gromit (but it just wasn't where we gathered it was supposed to be), listened to happy and talented street performers, and headed back to the airport and to Dublin.<br />
<br />
Day 11: I woke up, packed my things, went to the airport, rushed through all of the great fun preclearances and security, and made my flight home without any problems (even at Chicago O'Hare) and met Michelle for the ride back to Hyrum for the night and next few days. <br />
<br />
It was a great trip but I was also ready to be home!<br />
And I was just in time for Thanksgiving.Heidihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11286741895145655851noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2977956366858534357.post-55713485757825826152011-12-03T15:18:00.001-07:002011-12-03T16:34:25.044-07:00Ireland: Part 3Sorry it's taking me so long to write about it all.<br />
I'm not really sure you care though so in my opinion it's all good.<br />
The next three days I spent the majority of the time by myself.<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Day 5:</span> I thought I would wake up soon after Maria left to intern but I slept several more hours. I then got ready for the day and took the little walk to City Centre and Trinity College. I enjoyed the beautiful architecture of the college campus (holy beautiful Georgian style). I loved it. Trinity College is the common thread between sandwiches, Winnie the Pooh, Robinson Crusoe, and the inert gas Argon (the inventers, discoverers, and authors all attended. Along with many others).<br />

It told of the methods that monks used when copying and illustrating manuscripts, including the Book of Kells which is an illustrated manuscript of the Four Gospels in Latin. Once you take that all in, the exhibit goes upstairs to the old Library and holy cow I loved being there. The 200,000 of Trinity's oldest books were enchanting. I couldn't take any pictures but I found this one online:<br />

I really enjoy not doing much and just "being."<br />
I met up with Maria later and we enjoyed a night at one of her housemates play with her roommate Anna.<br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Day 7:</span> This day was pure shopping in Dublin. I didn't have anything crazy or really funny happen so there's not much to tell. But that night I did pack for the trip to Manchester early the next day! :)Heidihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11286741895145655851noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2977956366858534357.post-4419675478648479282011-11-30T22:28:00.003-07:002011-12-03T16:35:02.139-07:00Ireland: Part 2<b><span style="font-size: large;">Day 3:</span> </b>Sunday. We woke up and prepared for church and then walked the little jaunt (~20 minutes) to the Finglas Ward building. The missionaries and a YSA member spoke. And it was a nice little meeting. The other two meetings followed suit in the same pattern. I am so grateful for the knowledge which I have and throughout my trip I thought over and over again how grateful I am for the lifestyle I lead.<br />
<br />
After church we walked home with Ivanna. She told us the story of why she was late to church after watching a man steal a girl's purse and politely asking him to return it to her while at the bus stop... once the girl found her purse missing and Ivanna told her where it went the scene got out of control and the girl went nuts, ripped the man's pants, and the Garda (police) showed up for an arrest and statements... so she was late for church. I still love the thought of this cute girl walking over to the man and saying, "Excuse me. What did you just do?" Getting a blank stare and then saying, "Give it back to her please." Man such courage! Such politeness.<br />
<br />
The rest of the day was relaxation and watching of President Boyd K. Packer's fireside. I really enjoyed it and will probably listen to it again soon.<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>Day 4:</b></span> Maria and I were up and out bright and early to meet up with Caroline McCoole from McCoole family tours. She told us a little about the city and sent us on our travel bus to Galway. There we met up with our bus driver for the day who took us to the farm, the Cliffs of Moher, the seaside, and Dungaire castle. <br />
<br />
The farm was super. We saw the sheep, the green pastures that only grow grass due to the rock not too far beneath them, and we went on a "gentle" (so they called it) hike through the family owned part of the Burren.<br />

Prepare for lots of words at first. Then some pictures. Any questions? </b><br />
<br />
<b>Day 1: </b>This Thursday and Friday in my book as my trip really started on Thursday when my mom drove me down to Salt Lake and I went off on a plane to Chicago, but it's not a very exciting day. I had been told by several people that in Chicago people weren't friendly. I didn't find that to be the case - but they weren't very good at telling me the most important part of the directions. Luckily another lost man and I worked together for a moment and then I found almost where I needed to be.... After that apparently I looked slightly lost because a random man asked if I needed help - I was headed in the right direction but he confirmed it. I reached my terminal and just sat for while. Then I was on the almost 7 hour flight to Dublin (where I didn't sleep at all).<br />
<br />
I arrived in Dublin and waited for my friend Maria to arrive. It was happy. We rode the bus into Dublin, got settled in a little, went grocery shopping, and got poured on (YES! Irish rain the first day). We then relaxed (but I wasn't allowed to sleep - this was a good plan as I didn't have much jet lag while there). Later we went to the church and met some of the YSA and picked up a crock pot for dinner the next day.<br />
<br />
<b>Day 2: </b>This is where I actually have pictures.<br />
Maria and I woke and met up with the bus to the Wicklow Mountains tour.<br />
On the tour we stopped at The Black Lake:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkBLRsfuRpm1vszlveCORZU4LXUEjAVrYX2wRyRXV5TMHE6c4evWpDDInb8OLu7H5MyQjvpuiLj9saYLU1kKmX4TVlMGUHKZTuYqp6VQGMdBigfCzAvZ6F60HSNSDM59OSwFvYqN8fTz6l/s1600/ireland+007.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkBLRsfuRpm1vszlveCORZU4LXUEjAVrYX2wRyRXV5TMHE6c4evWpDDInb8OLu7H5MyQjvpuiLj9saYLU1kKmX4TVlMGUHKZTuYqp6VQGMdBigfCzAvZ6F60HSNSDM59OSwFvYqN8fTz6l/s320/ireland+007.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Due to the rain the day before it wasn't as black in color as usual.<br />
This land is privately owned. What?!?!<br />
Man, I want to own a lake and valley in Ireland.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimCm20Cy6vpzzhmxdFqFPBGEbOVfEJwf68hhTgrqscQl2er5qBsc1eLHkkF0VuTKKGvNgzefoBEUFu3ithjulRaN8HOkP7i71YLSVsjRGUuPc0uTvGGsPHMB8kuAGYqw_3PtCpzaI83IEM/s1600/ireland+006.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimCm20Cy6vpzzhmxdFqFPBGEbOVfEJwf68hhTgrqscQl2er5qBsc1eLHkkF0VuTKKGvNgzefoBEUFu3ithjulRaN8HOkP7i71YLSVsjRGUuPc0uTvGGsPHMB8kuAGYqw_3PtCpzaI83IEM/s320/ireland+006.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>Gorgeous.<br />

We also stopped in Avoca,<br />
and watched people weave some of a blanket on a loom (cool I tell you),<br />
and enjoyed some food at the local pub<br />
where the TV show <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0115105/">Ballykissangel </a>was filmed<br />
(randomness and I kind of got the feeling it was quite like a soap opera).<br />
<br />
We returned to Dublin,<br />
finished last minute touches on our pot roast dinner,<br />
greeted the elders and sisters (missionaries),<br />
and enjoyed some magic tricks.<br />

I PROMISE pictures and tales from my adventure will appear soon.<br />
Hopefully tomorrow.<br />
I'm in a weird blogging funk - you may or may not have noticed.<br />
BUT I'll do something about it come tomorrow.<br />
Yes indeed.<br />
<br />
p.s. Random thought involving dimes, I was helping to clean the house the other day and I found three sets of a quarter and a dime... is there a significance in thirty-five cents? I don't know. But I do know that I am now $1.05 richer. <br />
I was so confused to as to why they worked before and not now....<br />
then I remembered that I was in a different country.<br />
That makes a difference.<br />
<br />
I hope you had a wonderful 11/11/11 yesterday - I saw it all before you and mine was great....<br />
A little rainy and VeRry tired but great.<br />
<br />
And go AGGIES!<br />

and recently my home states of Utah and Idaho have been featured on that very show,<br />
So here are the clips because I like my states....<br />
<br />
Because I know *people like these who would do anything to help others....<br />
<iframe frameborder="0" height="330" scrolling="no" src="http://eplayer.clipsyndicate.com/cs_api/iframe?pl_id=20010&wpid=9604&page_count=5&tags=CCTVI_NEWS_LINKS&windows=1&va_id=2853005&show_title=0&auto_start=0&auto_next=1" width="425"></iframe><br />
and even though we may look like terrible drivers with hilarious weather....<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="294" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/bpW3DoJiO-0" width="520"></iframe><br />
Have I ever mentioned how much I<span style="font-size: large;"> love </span>where I come from?<br />
<br />
*If you didn't hear/see the original story check out my sisters blog <a href="http://beautifulbutterflydays.blogspot.com/2011/09/news-on-telephone.html">here </a>as it clears up the mistakes that the national media made in telling the story as well as showing you the clip.Heidihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11286741895145655851noreply@blogger.com0
