The Persistent and Breathless Conquerors

This is where I live.
And it's at the bottom of a hill,
that must be conquered everyday to reach campus.
I climbed it everyday last year.
I have climbed it all summer.
Some days it is much easier than others.
But that also applies to some days it's super hard.

Yesterday to get up the hill Michelle and I made up a song.
This is not the song lyrics to that song.
It is a poem that brings me joy.

The Climb
(we haven't named it but it needed one for this so . . . ta da!)

We woke up this morning, about 6, 7, or 8
Wishing we hadn’t stayed up so late.
But we rolled out of bed (mostly against our will)
And thought to ourselves, “How are were going to get up that hill?”

We leave our apartment telling a jok e that is cheesy.
The sidewalk at first is deceptively easy,
But surely enough we didn’t get too far
Before we realized how out of shape we really are.

So we’re huffing and puffing up the stairs,
Instead of flowers and bushes we just wanted chairs.
Moaning and groaning each of us said,
“We never should have gotten out of our bed.”

But persevere we did, much to our surprise,
We looked to the top. We looked to the skies.
The last few steps were a challenge . . . until,
At least we had reached the top of the hill!

We shouted “hurrah!” and sang a fun song,
But we couldn’t be too excited for long.
Because although one victory had come to pass,
We still had to go to work and to class.

So off we did go, up, over, and toward,
One to gain knowledge, the other to be bored.
But this was no reason to fret or to frown,
‘cause later we’d have so much fun going down.

The City of the Salty Lake

Saturday I took off on a random adventure.
With the crew of friends below
which is what the "we" refers to throughout this post
(+ one unphotographed)

One of them I personally kidnapped for the adventure.

We drove to the above mentioned city
And pretty much did whatever we wanted.
This included:
Visiting the beloved Barnes and Noble.
Ate a pretty tasty lunch.
Shopped for some expensive furniture like pros.
Stopped in at a vintage clothing store.

Then we saw Jane Eyre: The Musical.
It was very well done.

And to top the evening off.
We were to Pho Green Papaya. It's great!

The Parade of Homes.
With Ashley.
It. Is. Amazing.
And need I say more?

Ok so I do.
It's SO much fun to just go from house to house,
walk inside, and love what you see.

Finding time to see them all was rough
working around open hours and both our work schedules.
BUT we did make it to ALL of the houses . . .
technically we only saw outside of the one in Hyrum . . .
but we would have gone inside if someone had been there
during the slotted time allowed for the house
AND we did go back to a house for a second look.
That counts right?

Nonetheless so great!

Splendid.

Ashley and I want to make friends with the people at
a few of the houses.

I'll let you know, how that goes.
Ashley found this small door and loved it.
Her own cupboard under the stairs.
Then we found an even smaller one in another house.
And can I tell you how MUCH I lOvE this chalkboard.
I am getting one for my house.
It just looks so GOOD.

(keep your eye out for one will you?)

Narnia

I love Narnia.
It's one of those worlds my imagination lingers in.
Other places this has happened with are here, here, and here.
(That's not all but it's what I am listing now)
And I approve of the Narnia movies.
So like me, you may be excited to know the 3rd one is coming.

Do you see this?
(it's not posting right so you might have to click it and watch it elsewhere)

I hope it's as good as I hope it to be.

p.s. post #200 here.

heliolatry

that's just the word of the day at dictionary.com
and so it is this post's title as well.

As of late I have had a lot of fun
(as usual)

I have spent my time reading these:
Oh my goodness gracious incredible.
My emotions are entirely into it.
And I love it. See:
Then I saw this:
It too is emotional and happy.
AND amazing!
What a superb sequel? triquel?

I also got to have a picnic,
and while enjoying some of my favorite people.

I also got to enjoy nature and water.

Small and Simple Things

I have written this post three times.
It's not working but here it is anyway. . .

Today I was thinking and it reoccurred to me
that the simple things are what matters.
They ARE the big things.

"By small and simple things are
great things brought to pass."
Alma 37: 6-7

Happiness.

Joy.

I don't know if you've noticed but these are great things.

And while I know if someone gave me $1,000,000
I'd be ecstatic.
I also KNOW that that happiness wouldn't be like
the happiness I have when I realize the simple joys I experience daily.
(feel free to still give me the money if you were thinking about it though)

I mean yesterday I found joy in so much.

The weather.

My friends.

The Book of Mormon.

The dinner I had.

Picking up Alaura with Michelle.

The way we spent time waiting for her.

Roundabouts.

Empty parking lots.

Good songs playing over and over.

The laughter over something random.

Cyri's reaction to the laughter story.

A thunderstorm lullaby.

It's all so amazing and yet so

SiMpLe.

What simple things have you
noticed bringing you happiness today?

p.s. I just love this song.

Last week I got to watch Roy and Heather's girls
while they took off with my parents
and other aunts and uncles
and grandparents on a fantastic trip back East

I also got to play with Amberly.
I didn't get my camera out as often as I should have
but here are some pictures to enjoy.
We got snow cones and went to the zoo.
We also had a picnic this same day.
It rained.
We took pictures at the zoo.
We made chalk drawings.
C and A made a ladybug and an ant.
Then due to the video here,
they decided to sing about squishing their bugs together.
I hope one day to participate in an ImprovEverywhere.

My buddy and me.
CK wanted a picture of her doing something weird on my blog.
So there you go.

We did a lot more amazing things.
And more photos may be coming soon.

Stormy, fluffy, or just white.

So I just told you about cupcakes being my newest thing.

Actually this would be the sky.

I am LOVING it lately.

Here in Logan it is doing amazing things.

Have you ever noticed how gorgeous the clouds can be?

From stormy and black
To white and fluffy
Long and stringy.
Beautiful.
I took this picture last week.
I wish my camera could capture it all perfectly.

And the rain. And the thunder. And the lightning.
*sigh*

I love weather.
I think it's happening.
People have told me it's coming.
That everyone goes through it.

I doubted.
Mostly due to my complete lack of creativity.

But today I find myself browsing one after the other . . .
Cupcakes
.
.
.
.
decorated super cute.
and I want to make them ALL.

I do have to say that it's not a CAKE DECORATING phase.
It's definitely cupcakes.
Probably because they are small.
And simple.

You can see all the cute ones I have found so far here and here.

Ash an' picnics

Once upon a time I was working
And I hadn't seen Ashley in a long time
So we decided to have a picnic on the Quad
that very same day.
She brought food and we ate it.
Then we saw Amanda and met Rachel
Free food was offered from Old Gristmill so we took some
For later of course.
It was splendid.
I sure love Ashley.

ToDaY iS a GoOd DaY tO bE hEiDi

Today I youtubed Pooh's Grand Adventure
due to this statement:

"You're braver than you believe,
stronger than you seem,
and smarter than you think."

Stated by the good ol' Christopher Robin.
Watching the movie (yes I sure did)
I found there is a lot of good advice in it.

So if you want. Watch it too.

Years go by.

Today I was searching my e-mail for something
and stumbled upon these pictures
of Amberly and the new puppy Princess.
So cute.

This was Yesterday.
You may ask what happened.
I will tell you . . .

These two,
Yup my best friend Tiff
and dear friend Kyle,
were sealed for time and all eternity.
(This temple is gorgeous)
I am SO happy that it's finally happened.

It was an amazing day
and their reception was super cute!

SnAcKs

I don't know about you but I love that word.
It brings to mind so many things.
Ants on a log
a bag of chips
your favorite veggies or fruits
some licoricecucumbers in vinegar and crackers

cheese and crackers
pickles

a smoothie

your favorite candy

popcorn

Wow.

I think I'll go eat lunch now.

“Life is either a great adventure or nothing.” - Helen Keller

Yesterday was full of adventures.
Martin Harris was first as mentioned below,
then I just played all day.

1. Waffle Party
2. Went on a walk with Michelle. . .
this ended up being quite wonderful
as we discovered things and went places people have never gone before
OR at least we like to think that.
I don't think I'll expand much more than that. I like being cryptic.
3. Created a crime scene all our own outside on the sidewalk
(Thanks whomever left that tape outside)
4. Drove around and may or may not have been creepy at the same time
5. Went to the store, had a close call there, and ended with a lunch picnic
6. Ate hot dogs AND strawberry rhubarb pie (not at the same time)
7. Saw The Prince Of Persia . . . good to see once.
8. Drove around with Alaura
9. Ended with Psych

Obviously there is more to these stories,
but I find reading a ton of words boring so I have an idea . . .
you make your own stories up about the cryptic parts
and then perhaps recreate them in your own life.
OR just enjoy yours. :)

Oh! Oh! Oh!

Sunday Amy, Cyri, Michelle, and I went on a drive.
We took pictures at the Peter Pan Tree.
As always it was amazing.
I L-O-V-E this photo.
And this one.
And also this one.

Then we stopped by Grandma and Grandpa Savages.
I love them quite a lot.
It was fantastic!

22/52

Yesterday was Memorial Day.
So first off

THANK YOU

to all those who have, are, and will be serving this great country.
serving me.
serving my family.
serving around the world.

(I can't find the one that I want. This will have to do)
Thanks for your willingness to serve and ALL that you do
even though it's not easy.

In the morning my roommates and friend Amy
drove up to Clarkston, UT to visit Martin Harris' grave.
One of the three witnesses of the Book of Mormon.
He was an amazing man that went through a lot.
I love that he never denied his testimony.
